Some residential swimming pools are indoor pools. These pools should feature covers for the period of time that they are not used. There should also be alarms and door locks, which are unreachable to kids.
Power safety covers placed over the pools should be used as well. There are particular standards for the covers, introduced by ASTM. The cover should withstand the weight of at least two adults who fall onto it.
If you stay by the pool with your kids, you should always have some flotation devices around. This doesn’t mean that you don’t need to pay attention and supervise your kids; it’s a precautionary measure in the case of an accident.

Therefore it is necessary to remember that the only thing that can make a true difference is to teach your kids how to behave around pools. If your children are old enough to understand and acknowledge the potential dangers, you can maybe teach them how to protect themselves. If your kids are small, you should tighten the safety measures and supervise them at all times.
